1. Purged and Returned #3-Tweetbot

So many apps on the store, so much innovation. There are few categories, though, that can compare with Twitter clients for diversity of features and interface. The legendary Tweetie 2 was long ago absorbed by Twitter and adapted as the official app, which you can get on the store for free. Yet the app I use everyday for Twitter, and the next app to make the return to my home screen is, Tweetbot.

Every good app should have a personality, and most of my favorites do. Tweetbot, however, goes above and beyond mere personality. Every pixel drips with character and thoughtful detail. From custom sounds, to gorgeous UI elements—if nothing else—Tweetbot shows that developer Tapbots pays closer attention to the little things than almost anyone.

Sharing your thoughts 140 characters at a time is just more fun with Tweetbot. Intuitive gestures allow quick access to things like retweets, conversations, and replies. Services like Instapaper and a personal favorite of mine, Tweet Marker, allow you to sync and share information from your timeline. For years, I would browse the store every so often to see if there were any new, interesting Twitter clients available. With Tweetbot, I just don’t even feel the urge to look anymore.

Go get it from the AppStore for $2.99 on both iPhone or iPad.
